Sunday Soup GR is a monthly community potluck that provides mini-grants for local small-scale creative projects. $5 buys you a bowl and a vote, the entire proceeds of the gathering will go to fund the proposal with the most votes.

Come celebrate our twelfth Sunday Soup GR and hear proposals from the three exciting projects on the docket. Check them out below and be an informed voter when the applicants make their presentations this sunday, March. 27, at 6pm.

This month we will be joined by special guests from the upcoming Rapid Revolution event (http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=145871518810703) and past Sunday Soup GR mini-grant recipient Jes Kramer who will likely treat us with a song or two.

As always soup will be provided, but it would be a delight if you brought a dish to pass and your own bowl / cutlery. See you on Sunday! Also - our benches are currently in use as part of our mini-golf hole at the UICA, so if there were ever a month where you were to bring your own chair, this might be the best one!

The projects, in order of submission:

Finish Recording our New Album! - Ribbons of Song
Ribbons of Song is our indie folk-pop group. We're from Grand Rapids, and there are six to eight people in the band, depending on the evening -- upright bass, organ, classical guitar, electric guitar, trombone, drums, and lots of singing.
We've already recorded the first 5 songs for our New Album with Dustin Anderson. They sound great! We'd love to play them for you.
We're going to need at least $500 to record the remaining 7 songs for our lushly-arranged, tightly-performed, nicely-packaged, superbly-recorded, full-length CD.

Grand Rapids Comics Society Mini Zine - Grand Rapids Comics Society
The Grand Rapids Comics Society is a cadre of West Michigan cartoonists, illustrators, writers, and those passionate about creating an exploring various genres of comic art.
Over the past two years we have had many ups and downs, but have ultimately developed into a focused and creative group wanting to advance in our art. We are currently working on two publications: a mini-zine and a more extensive and professional anthology. The mini-zine is our top priority at present because it is cheaper and is easier to put together in a timely fashion. We are almost ready for printing but need funding. Since all of us are either workng as artists or still in school its difficult to shell out the mass printing prices. Even though each book is less than a dollar each, printing centers require a MINIMUM amount, which is usually between $50 and $200.
