DAAC @The Fed:
From October 2003 to August 2013, the Division Avenue Arts Collective (DAAC) was a staple in the Grand Rapids arts community, providing a safe and neutral space open to all-ages as an art gallery, music venue, and DIY project incubator. As an artist-run space, the DAAC helped to cultivate an inclusive community built on participatory culture through a DIT (do-it-together) approach.
While the DAAC does not currently have a physical location, its mission remains as strong as ever. From June 17th - July 25th, the collective will take over The Fed Galleries at KCAD for DAAC @The Fed, a project exploring the history and culture of the DAAC through a series of events, workshops, and public discussions in collaboration with local artist groups. Part exhibition, part artist residency, the project provides a number of different opportunities for audiences to engage with the past, present, and future of the local DIT community.
