In October 2003, The DAAC opened its doors for the First Show at 115 Division Avenue. The DAAC called Heartside Neighborhood its home for 10 years. In summer 2013, we lost our physical home on Division Avenue and began searching for a space to call our own. Many friends reached out in support, including The FED Galleries at KCAD in 2013. Later, The DAAC moved to 333 Rumsey St SW for summer-long programming in 2016, and again in 2017.
After years of searching for a permanent space, The DAAC put down its roots in the Creston Neighborhood. In 2019, 2 miles north of the original location, the building at 1553 Plainfield Avenue began to take shape. Gaia Cafe and The DAAC joined forces to renovate the building together. Then the COVID-19 pandemic hit. The DAAC celebrated its first show in the new space in 2021. We've been hosting shows, art exhibits, and community events ever since.
Hundreds of musicians, artists, and makers have called The DAAC their home. Take a scroll through the archive to see for yourself.
