Harry & The Potters

Imagine if Harry Potter quit the quidditch team and started a punk rock band. Take that one step further and imagine that he stole a time-turner and decided to start that band with himself from a different point in time. Imagine a band that uses the power of rock and roll as the ultimate weapon against evil. This is Harry and the Potters. Since 2002 they have released 3 full length albums and played over 500 shows in libraries, rock clubs, art spaces, bookstores, basements, backyards and pizza places all over the world. Their hyper-enthusiastic live performance is highly regarded and Pitchfork placed the band in their Best Live Shows of 2005 list noting, "the greatest rock and roll tour of the year took place this past summer in public libraries across America." They are now hailed as the founders of the wizard rock genre - a DIY music movement of bands playing songs about the Harry Potter books. In 2005 they helped co-found the Harry Potter Alliance, a non-profit organization that makes activism accessible for young people by using the Harry Potter books as an access point to discuss pressing issues of social justice. A 2008 documentary, We are Wizards, profiled the band as pioneers in the creative subculture spawned by the Harry Potter phenomena. http://harryandthepotters.tumblr.com/
