Surreal illustration of an old man, his hair flowing into waves

Surreal illustration of an old man, in soft purple, blue, and yellow. His hair is long, and flowing into waves. The waves spill out and become an ocean. The waves are cresting in one tall point. At the top of this peak, a cascade of white bubbles flows out like a cloud. The man looks peaceful next to the swirling chaos. Text reads: White Pines. Strand of Oaks.

The Litribune brings you a night of great music, featuring some of the best acoustic artists from around the country, and one of Michigan's best bands!

Join us at Literary Life Bookstore & More before the show at 6pm to 7pm for the first in our “Singing Conversation” series. Come and welcome Joseph Scott (White Pines) and Timothy Showalter (Strand of Oaks) to the neighborhood.
Curious about their inspirations for writing? Wonder how writing lyrics transforms into performing a song? How does all this translate from the artist to the audience?
In addition to the singer/songwriter discussion several poets featured in the winter issue of the Litribune quarterly will give a reading of their original works.

With the sounds of:

WHITE PINES:

Joseph Scott, originally from Muskegon, comes all the way from Brooklyn, NY to play an amazing set of his solo project. He played at Literary Life Bookstore back in November while he was in town for the first National Bookstore day that the bookstore and The Litribune put on! Joseph joins the great band Cotton Jones every now and again. They will have a new 7' available for sale! http://www.myspace.com/whitepinetrees

STRAND OF OAKS:

This acoustic artist is on tour with Joseph, and I have to say, don't know that much about him, but from his myspace. He sounds amazing. Should be a great counterpart to White Pines. http://www.myspace.com/strandofoaks

W/ SPECIAL GUESTS....

GRAHAM PARSONS & the GO 'ROUNDS:

Closing out the night is one of Michigan's most talented new bands! A collective of some of Kalamazoo's best musicians, from such bands as Squeaky Clean Cretins, Toro & the National Guard and Maxdandyslax. And if you haven't seen Toro, they are one one of the most rocking bands I have ever seen. And of course Graham Parsons, who has one of the most soulful voices you will ever hear.
