Wake Up Weekend: A Conscious Benefit

Presented by The DAAC

Event Type
A rabbit looking up at hand-drawn script

Half of a rabbit's face peeks up from the corner. It is pale yellow, with a rosy pink cheek and a large upright ear. Hand-drawn script says "A Conscious Benefit."

In conjunction with extraVEGANZa's Wake Up Weekend festivities work from A Conscious Benefit will once again be on display.

5:30 - 9:30pm - A Conscious Benefit:
Closing reception for new works by Rebecca Green, Justin Kellner, Molly Pettengill and Cory Schneider.

100% of the proceeds will go to support Farm Sanctuary, a national nonprofit organization that "works to end cruelty to farm animals and promotes compassionate living through rescue, education and advocacy."

9:30pm - Fowl Play screening

Fowl Play, a documentary by Adam Durand, illuminates the plight of factory-farmed laying hens through interviews with people who are fighting diligently to save them. A story of hope emerges as footage recorded inside battery cage and other facilities is balanced with personal accounts of the individuals working to protect the often-forgotten victims of the egg industry.
