Accessibility

In the Space

The DAAC strives to be an inclusive and accessible space for all. We have built our space with inclusion in mind. During the building renovation process, we followed ADA guidelines. Some accessible features of the space include:

  • A ramp entrance to the building. It is made with concrete at the appropriate incline and has hand rails.
  • Two gender-neutral bathrooms. These have wide doors, lever handles, handrail, and plenty of space inside.
  • Venue seating. Benches are located against the side walls of the event space. A large stack of sturdy folding chairs with backs are available in the space at all times.
  • Curb cuts. The closest curb cut to our accessible ramp, unfortunately, contains gravel. Paved curb cuts are located at the intersection of Saunders Ct. and Plainfield Ave. on the North and West corners (near the entrance of Gaia Café).

Website

Accessibility has been built into The DAAC's new website at every stage of development. We understand that accessibility is more than compliance, or checking a box - it is a journey, and an ever-evolving process. To that end, we test against WCAG 2.1 A & AA standards regularly, but we also know this is never enough.

Our Commitment

If you have difficulty accessing any part of our building or website, for any reason, please send an email to info@thedaac.org. We welcome and celebrate your feedback. We will hold ourselves accountable to you as a valued community member.
