With the concern about the Voiceless, those who lead a life of
oppression, this exhibition sets out to bring the Grand Rapids
community to the awareness of the present injustice. Therefore, the
exhibition, “Voices for the Voiceless”, welcomes all artists to
participate in the cause. Using their talents, they will direct the
public’s attention to the situation of the Voiceless, its underlying
cause, and its potential solution.
The exhibition is sponsored by a body of students at Calvin College,
who are under the non-profit organization called LiNK (Liberty in
North Korea) located in Los Angeles. LiNK searches to promote
awareness of the situation in North Korea and rescue refugees who are
hiding from persecution.
These refugees represent a small part of the Voiceless. Through this
exhibition, we wish to encourage and inspire everyone to remember the
Voiceless around the world.
“Voices for the Voiceless” will be one of the three events hosted by
LiNK on the night of April 28, 2012. The exhibition is the opening
event, which will take place at the DAAC (Division Avenue Art
Collective) from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Next, a film about LiNK’s
effort to save North Korean refugees in China will be shown at the
basement of the 106 gallery across the street. Finally several Calvin
College students will share their personal testimonies as refreshments
are served.
