We are accepting proposals for small-scale creative projects to be funded by the monthly Sunday Soup mini-grant.

Sunday Soup is a community-driven mini-grant model designed to provide financial support for creative projects and emerging artists. On the last Sunday of the month, Grand Rapidians gather to eat soup (or ice cream) and vote on proposals. $5 buys you a bowl and a vote, the entire proceeds of the gathering will go to fund the proposal with the most votes.

We are mixing it up a little more this month with a time change. Instead of 2pm, we will start at 6pm. And we have decided to continue with our temporary menu change. It's a little too warm for soup these days, so let's eat some more ice cream! Sunday Soupers will bring a variety of homemade, vegan, and store bought ice creams to help us beat the summer heat.

Since March, Sunday Soup has:
Funded 5 projects
Granted over $700
Served 15 different soups and many varieties of sundaes.

Our most recent mini-grant was $130 to Dance in the Annex (DITA - http://danceintheannex.com/). DITA's mission is to secure, promote and enhance contemporary dance in Grand Rapids by fostering an intelligent appreciation of dance through education and performance opportunities. They provide the West Michigan dance community affordable Master Classes with highly-trained and well-respected Guest Artists from all over Michigan.

Any person looking to fund a creative project is welcome to apply for the next round of granting. To be eligible, you must apply via the following form by Friday August 27th at 6:00pm:

Additionally, you must be present to receive funding. Each applicant will be asked to give a 3-5 minute pitch for their project during the meal. If you submit images, there will be a powerpoint put together to show your images projected on a large screen. Feel free to bring objects that will help you better explain your proposal.

All grantees will be asked to report back to the Sunday Soup community at a future meal within two months.
